Give your children a better life, earn your GED!

July 31, 2009 – 1:45 pm

Fact: People who don’t have a high school diploma or GED earn $8,500 less per year than high school graduates, and $1 million less over a lifetime than college graduates.

This group is also much more likely to be:

  • Unemployed
  • Living in Poverty
  • Receiving Public Assistance
  • In Prison
  • Unhealthy
  • Divorced

Here’s another fact: not having a high school diploma or GED not only affects you and the lifestyle you have, but also affects the future of your children!

Studies have shown that the most influential factor in a child’s success in school is the educational attainment of their parents, especially mothers. If you dropped out of school, chances are your children will too. On the other hand, if you graduate from high school or get your GED, your child will be that much more likely to graduate as well, not to mention have a better chance at employment, receive higher earnings, and be healthier.

Be the one to break the cycle!

It only takes one person in a family to break this cycle. The benefits of completing high school or earning your GED will be felt by your children and their children! Educated parents have greater influence over their children’s education, producing more literate adults who, in turn, produce more educated children. Also, children of educated mothers stay in school longer than children of mothers with low levels of education.

Don’t we all want to give our children a better life? At SBBCollege, we can help you do just that.
